BPP Powers Up Philippine Hospital with Plan for Green Energy
BPP, in partnership with Future Value, joined the Zero Emission Generators Accelerator Programme’s Ignite delegation in the Philippines in September 2024. The project partners presented their initiative to develop a solar, green hydrogen, and oxygen system for the Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital (GMPH) in Talibon, Bohol, Central Visayas.
This presentation was given to various stakeholders, including:
• The British Embassy in Manila
• The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
• The Asian Development Bank (ADB)
• The Philippines Department of Energy
• The University of San Carlos
The project partners and members of the delegation visited the hospital in Talibon to meet with hospital administrators and local authorities, assessing the challenges posed by the hospital’s unreliable power supply and reliance on an aging diesel generator.
The project generated significant interest in forming partnerships to support the development of clean energy solutions for rural communities and critical infrastructure like hospitals, potentially contributing to the Philippines’ renewable energy objectives.
